PRESS RELEASE LAKES REGION PARADE OF HOMES WINNERS ANNOUNCED! Hayward & Company’s Moultonborough home was the visitors’ overall favorite home on the tour and voted Lakes Region Parade of Home’s “People’s Choice” Winner for the second year in a row.
Parade-goers at this year’s Parade of Homes held during Columbus Day weekend were once again treated to some spectacular homes scattered throughout the Lakes and Mountains. Upon entry of their first home, they received a guidebook with maps and descriptions, goodie bags and an official ticket. As the visitors toured the homes they were asked to choose their favorite home and cast their ballot at the completion of visiting their last home on the tour.
Visitors had no special criteria to judge on but to pick the home that resonated as the best out of the nine homes. Some people picked the one with the best overall amenities, size, flow of the house, energy efficiency and most innovative technologies, while others just picked their favorite home that they would most likely like to live in.
The voting was very close between two of the homes but after all the entries were tallied it was clear that the visitors were impressed with Home #1 in Moultonborough built by Hayward and Company. Mike & Juile Hayward have been part of Parade of Homes for the past 6 years! This is their third time winning the coveted “People’s Choice” Award!
“Having our workmanship recognized by receiving the People’s Choice Award is a great accomplishment both personally and professionally,” said Julie Hayward, principal owner of Hayward & Company. “We love showing our work and hearing people’s reaction. Building homes is a very personal business and we take that seriously.” The Haywards have been building custom homes in the Lakes Region for the past ten years.
Among the features of the Moultonborough home that Haywards listed as popular right now are… open floor plans with a great flow from room to room, custom kitchen cabinets, use of space and lighting, first floor master bedrooms, unique woodwork features and useful entry areas just as mudrooms. The high efficiency geothermal system and high performance SIP panel shell gained this home a 5+ star rating from Energy Star! Some other fun and functional features that people were impressed with were the lighted wooden stair case and central vacuum system - just sweep it to the opening, click with your foot to activate and all the dust gets sucked away!
A NUMBER OF OTHER WINNERS WERE JUDGED FOR DIFFERENT CATEGORIES IN THE EVENT.
A separate “Awards of Excellence” program took place, recognizing builders in a variety of categories. The judges included Kendall Buck the Executive Vice President of New Hampshire Home Builders Association, Anna Satterfield the regional Field Representative of National Association of Home Builders from Virginia and Richard Gowen current president of the Lakes Region Board of Realtors. The judges were required to rate each home on eight separate categories. Each of the eight categories had five (5) specific points for judges to rate on a scale of 1-5 for a possible high score of 25 points in each category. Some of the specifics that the judges looked at were overall layout, use of natural lighting, originality, trim work, curb appeal, effective land use, creative use of space to name a few. The winners were announced at a general monthly meeting held last week at Hart’s Turkey Farm. Special wooden plaques were handed out to each of the winners.
Cargill Construction won Best Kitchen, Best Bath, Best Interior Finish and Best In Class-Remodel, Hayward & Company received the highest points for: Best Interior Design, Best Exterior Finish (tied), Best Floor Plan and Best In Class-New Build, Sippican Partners won Best Exterior Finish (tie) and Best Unique Features & Product and won high points for their use of green technology and home efficiency, Best Landscaping was Stephens Landscaping at the Moultonborough home for outstanding use of plants, stone, texture and materials, and the best focal point or “WOW” factor went to NH Log & Timber Homes with the most spectacular views of the mountains that simply took your breath away.
